Using Social Media to Your Advantage As a Blogger

Blogging is really fun, and can actually even make you a long term, passive income if you do it right. If you plan on getting big exposure to your blog however, you’ll need to figure out some really good ways to promote your blog and get lots of readers to it.

Of course, as you’d expect, there are many ways to accomplish this task. There are forums, ebooks, pay per click, article marketing, and many others. Let’s not forget about one of the most important ways in this day and age to get exposure: social media.

The power of social media

Social media is a LOT more powerful than people realize. Imagine sending out a message, and having it viewed by hundred, thousands, or even hundreds of thousands of people? Does that sound really powerful to you? Imagine the reach you’d have if you sent out one of your blog posts to that many people.

You could literally be unstoppable. You’d have people coming to your blog constantly, and sharing your stuff with their friends, who then share it with THEIR friends, and so on. It would be like a viral effect.

The best part about social media is that it’s FREE. Yep, totally free to use, unlike paid banner advertising or pay per click. You can build up a list of thousands of Twitter followers for example, all for free.

How to use it correctly

When using social media to promote your blog, it’s kind of tricky, because you don’t want to SEEM like you’re promoting your blog. You want to seem like you’re basically trying to be helpful and share valuable content with your audience.

You want to become a leader and an EXPERT who really knows what they’re talking about. You want to build up trust and rapport with your followers/audience/friends. This is the only way to do it if you want to be successful with social media.

It may sound difficult, but it’s actually pretty easy. Instead of only promoting your own blog posts, share other helpful stuff from other people on your feed as well. Of course it shouldn’t be only content, you want to mix it up with some fun and personal stuff too.

You don’t want to bore your audience, you want to be likable. You also want to keep things very positive and lighthearted, you DON’T want to be the girl or guy who complains about their pathetic life constantly.

Using social media correctly can change your life as a blogger and make you successful if you utilize it correctly. Use it to your advantage!
